The best way to train my staff to help the ABC community reduce smoking is to have them blend in with the community first. After the staff has learnt how the culture of smoking is valued in the community, they can understand the magnitude of the job they have to do. The step of having the staff learn about the culture of the community is to ensure that whatever ways they come up with of helping reduce the rate of smoking, is to ensure that at no point do they make the members of the community feel offended. I would borrow the ideas that were implemented in the Cessation Intervention for Arab-American men in the United States (Haddad, Al-Bashaireh, & Ghadban, 2017). Knowing why the smoking tradition exists in the ABC community will also come in handy when getting ideas from the staff on how to help these people quit smoking. The staff will need to exhibit high standards of cultural competence. This means that at n point should they make the members of the ABC community feel primitive and uninformed. The ABC community obviously find the women and children being weak in the community, this could be the best way for my staff to appeal to the smokers to lower they levels of smoking. They can do this if only they can effectively explain to the smokers that being passive smokers is more dangerous than being active smokers. My staff members will learn how to appeal to these smokers by getting into the community and spending time with them as they learn this culture and teach the smokers about the dangers of smoking with the support of the senator’s brother. The senator’s brother would be a good example of how smoking can wipe out the ABC generations from an early age. This approach may be unconventional but once the cycle is broken, smokers will reduce with time. Changing a culture does not bear fruits overnight, it takes time.
