It is agreeable with what you have mentioned that vulnerability in elderly patients is not just about their finances. There is a need to establish good communication between them and their caregivers to know their needs (Hussein et al., 2015). Your statement about some patients being more vulnerable than others is also accurate because there are those who are aware of what they want and those that cannot communicate due to various factors. You provide the reason for the vulnerability is the lack of communication and advocate for caring for the wants of the patients to improve their health and the quality of end of life care. Therefore, of all the discussions made in class, your paper sheds lights on a new point of view-communication. Vulnerability among the elderly is also mostly due to lack of communication which is paramount when it comes to taking care of the elderly and being ignorant only makes them more vulnerable.

Your paper covers the fact that there are common issues among the elderly that classify them as vulnerable. You also highlighted the fact that social neglect puts the elderly in a vulnerable position. Your argument follows Nagaratnam & Nagaratnam’s study (2019) about the need for healthcare providers to spot when an older adult is going through social neglect through abuse and such. It is insightful because in most cases, people assume that the responsibility for social care lies solely on the family of the elderly. However, you bring light to the fact that reducing vulnerability in the elderly is a collective effort from both family members and caregivers. According to the statistics you have provided, there needs to more words done is reducing the number of vulnerable elderly through deliberate actions such as trying to find out the underlying problems.
