What entails a production department and how does it operate?

-The production department is a crucial part of the firm as it controls the products that the firm distributes to its target market. The success of this process requires those managing the department to liaise with other departments such as the marketing department and the research and development department.

-The marketing department conducts investigations in the target market in an attempt to establish the demands, tastes and preferences of the customers. It then deliveries the message to the research and development department, which evaluates the demands, tastes and preferences of customers to identify ways through which the firm can satisfy them. This begins with the evaluation of the resources and financial ability of the firm. In regard to the resources, the R&D department must consult the production department to establish whether the firm is in a position to generate the required products.

-The production department conducts its own evaluation to determine whether the production of the stipulated products requires application of the existing production processes, or there is need for new processes. The aim is to ensure that the firm generates quality and unique products that enhance the competitive advantage of the firm as well as satisfy the target market.

What strategies do I apply to secure this job?

– I will need to research manufacturing companies that have vacant posts of production manager and apply as stated.

-I will visit a number firms within my vicinity and delivery my applications as well as make connections with individuals working in these firms, because in most cases firms do not advertise for the posts but rather ask their employees to refer individuals they believe have the ability to fill the vacant post.

-I need to equip myself with the necessary expertise of production management, which includes, learning production skills; this will offer me a chance to assist the staffs in the department when requested.

-I need to master production processes and business administration; these two courses will acquaint with the appropriate knowledge and skills to carry out my ideal job. That is, with the production processes course, I will establish the processes adopted by the firm as it generates its products as well as offer an insight on ways the same can be enhanced in an effort to remain competitive through production of quality and unique products.

The business administration course will acquit me with the expertise related to management; that is, the scope, control and ways to ensure that there is a connection with the employees within the department.
