The wages we make are important for the survival of our families. They make it possible for us to buy cars, houses and take our children to good schools. The wages we earn contribute to a major part of our happiness in the family unit. However, there are certain levels of work that earn good wages but deprive the earner the joy of the work. By the time they realize that money cannot buy them happiness, they find that it is impossible to repair the relationships they broke along the way. Some jobs will pay highly but compromise on the career advancement of the employee. 

I have previously worked a job that was satisfactory but the pay was not attractive. I worked in a tour company where I got to travel and talk to tourists about the wonders of nature in our country. The pay was not good but at the end of each day, I was fulfilled. I met people from all over the world and got to learn from them as much as they also got to learn from me. This made the job interesting, growth was imminent. I was always appreciated by my clients as well. I have also worked in the banking industry. The pay was high with enough benefits to make me stay but I hardly had time to sit with my family and know what they were going through, their joys and worries. 

I would work in many jobs but I cannot last a day being a medical doctor. The demands of being a career medical doctor seem overwhelming. It demands that one puts their life on hold for the sake of saving the world. There are people who would be fulfilled after saving lives but I would not be among them. It is one of the many jobs where I am sure I would not be happy even if it paid the world. I am of the opinion that when seeking any job, one considers how much they can achieve working in that position. Working a job where one is not happy causes stress and there is a likelihood of developing psychological problems (Chamorro-Premuzic, 2017). There is a likelihood that being in a job that pays more money but denies the employee time to rejuvenate makes them demotivated. They find that they cannot be productive and beneficial to the company. This means that in the event where the employee is expected to generate new ideas, they fall short. Employers should always consider how passionate their employees are. This will ensure that they can correctly place their works in positions that will motivate them to work harder and improve the company or business. It is important for any employer to have emotional intelligence when dealing with their employees. This is because they are expected to know how to pass instructions and receive the suggestions of their employees. It is the best way to grow a company and have happy employees.
