Identification of lower case letters was evaluated out of 26, too, and nineteen students scored 100%. The entire class scored 80% and above. The least score attained was 21/26. Identifying lower case letters was another area of strength.
The letter sounds were evaluated out of 26. Fourteen students scored 100%, while the least score was 16/26. Twenty four students scored 88% and above.
48% of the students exceeded expectations in reading, while 20% met expectations in the same area. 28% approached expectation but needed short term intervention to improve their skills. 4% of the class, which represented a single student who did not meet expectations and thus would need intensive intervention. In general, 76% of the students were above average.
In writing, only two students, which represent 8%, scored the highest points while 16% of them scored the least. In general, only 44% of the class passed the average mark in writing.
From the analysis, students indicated significant strength in Letter identification upper case and letter identification lower case. On the other hand, their performance in identifying rhyming words and in writing skills seemed not satisfactory since they are in grade 1.
