Impacts of Globalization

Globalization of Education and Research at Rider University
Working in the education sector is a priority, it is the only industry where live globalization can be bundled up in a single room. Having been at a university as an assistant director in the food section, I must admit that here we have faces of almost all countries. According to Misra and Bajpai (2010) in a paper that sought to understand how globalization has affected the education industry, globalization in the education context can be understood as the unification of the teaching curriculum, methodology, and knowledge and systems in such a way that they remain in the context of efficiency and effectiveness. By so doing, globalized education is capable of achieving transformed knowledge justifiably to help attain the goals of life. This has been the major objective in my organization.
Rider University accepts students from around the world. This makes the delivery of education more interesting due to the multinational composition of the university. This aspect is similar to what Ashford University is doing, it accepts students from all over the world without being worried by the student’s nationality. The only important factor is merit. Globalization of education has enabled Rider University to admit students from many countries thus making it a melting point for different cultures. Currently, students from other parts of the world can achieve their educational aspirations from the university without necessarily coming to the USA by attending online classes. Out of the globalization of education, there has been standardization of education and training. As such, a student from Rider University is fit to work almost anywhere. Research, out of standardization has become a significant element. Due to globalization, a researcher based at Rider University can collaborate with another researcher in another part of the world. This is due to usage of the same standards and policies as described by Pang (2006), as well as the interconnectedness of the world from an education point of view.
Change of Education and Research over Time from a Global Perspective
The globalization of education has been happening at a rather rapid rate. It has been happening within the same discourse as other international economic and political integrations. This has increased at an increasing rate especially since the cold war. Capitalist systems have enabled the globalization of education to become real. In China, capitalism was not pronounced until in the 1980s. In South Korea, 1987 opened doors for democracy and the effects reverberated across the entire economy, including the education sector. The various calamities and wars that have rocked the world have brought interconnectedness, interdependence, and establishment of mutually beneficial systems and agreements that have become anchor points for development of global education. The advancement of the internet since the 1990s has made globalization of education highly receptive. This way, people can learn about what other people are doing and at the same time.
International bodies such as the UN, other regional bodies, treaties, conferences, and global leadership have made it possible to achieve standard educational and research approaches and policies worldwide. For instance, the famous Millennium Development Goals and the preceding Sustainable Development Goals, which have been the anchors for education, have been harmonized across more than 190 nations worldwide. Global forums such as the Global Forum on Education, the Global Education and Skills Forum, and Global Education Forum among others have been on the forefront in harmonizing and pushing for global education standards and policies.
