Data Presentation

The graph tells the story of the relationship between education level, earnings, and unemployment rate. From the graph, we can see that the higher the level of education, the higher the median usual weekly earnings and the less the unemployment rate. In essence, the graph tells that with high levels of education, one should expect high levels of incomes and lesser chances of unemployment, and the opposite is true. There are three variables in this graph; education levels, which is the independent variable, weekly earnings and unemployment rate are the dependent variables. The education levels have been started at the very low levels and have progressed to the highest levels. The dependent variables are moving with the independent variable as described above. The graph indicates a fair representation of the situation. Higher education skills are employable and due to their scarcity, it becomes easy to have people with such skills employed and remunerated better. The graph is clear since it shows an increasing education level with the corresponding wage and unemployment rate, which indicates the expected real situation

The pie chart attempts to tell the number of features that progressive Microsoft Word software adds per each release. The data presented is not an accurate description of the data and it is not easy to understand the graph. The pie chart does not show any chronology with regards to time. We know that releases of software occur one after the other, but this graph has failed to capture that. The graph does not tell the number of features that were added to the software. It is, therefore, hard to compare one release with the other, for instance, Word 2002 and Word 2003. There are no parameters to compare the two releases. The chart shows that the features are a part of a total, which is not true. Microsoft does not know the kind of features it will have added to Word in the next five releases. Purporting that such features can be summed up and compared is not practical. Schonlau and Peters (2008) explain that graphs need to be used with the kind of information to be presented in mind, as such, the pie chart should have had a consideration for chronology in respect to timelines and number of features for ease of comparability.
