Dear Senator

The legislation addressing education funding is of the most significant interest to me because I am a parent. The issue directly impacts my child and other students in other schools, and this is a very challenging social welfare issue. The funding in education has not been addressed quite as hoped by the stakeholders, including the parents and the teachers (Sirota, 2019). Training should be one of the most funded sectors in the country. This is because education is responsible for nurturing future generations to come, and it would not be right if the industry is underfunded.

As a parent, I am primarily concerned about the resources that are given in these schools and also the overcrowding in these schools because these reasons could lead to a child not having a conducive learning environment. This type of situation could also lead to a teacher being overworked due to the classroom having an overwhelming number of students. The other aspects of this same issue that affect the student are the attention that some children ought to be given. The best way to ensure that these children can be able to develop is through direct engagement with the teacher who can be able to guide the child, and this means having fewer children in one classroom (McPherson, 2019).  As a legislator, I urge you to vote to put more money into education because the future of our children depends on this funding. In 2018, teachers vented their frustrations to many state capitols, and they demanded better pay, working conditions and benefits and they may continue until their terms are met by the state (Sirota, 2019).

The reason as to why I selected the education funding issue is because of the negligence that has been experienced by the education sector. The most crucial stage of our children’s development is being undermined, and this is the lower level of education. The issue needs to be addressed immediately by the policymakers so that our schools and teachers can become better and more impactful on the lives of our children (Sirota, 2019). Education funding affects social work because it is not possible to conduct the necessary programs in schools because the resources are not readily available (McPherson, 2019). Social work is vital in education because children need to be taught about various issues in life.

The representative that has been chosen can understand the issues that deal with education. The representative has been a teacher before, and he can understand the education system and how it works (McPherson, 2019). This has enabled me to approach them and to be able to tell them the reason for the pursue of this issue. Also, due to his political affiliation, he can reason out such matters not because of any interests but because of their values and principles (Sirota, 2019). This is a representative who has been there before, and they are aware of what it takes to revamp and dignify the education system and probably even revise the education system.

Conclusion

The funding of the education system is a social welfare issue that has always been in existence every year. This issue has never reached a proper agreement and has been severely undermined by the policymakers and hence why we are still here every year talking about this issue. Perhaps this will be the year or not, but until then it is paramount that we continue to stress on the funding for the sake of our children and our future generations.
